   Summary:

   Religion in human experience

   Spiritual state of man. As a species of human experience, religion embraces both the primitive slavery to which the evolving savage condemns his fear, and the exalted, beautiful freedom which brings the faith of civilized mortals, possessed of a higher consciousness of their status as children of the eternal God.

   Religion is the forerunner of developed ethics and morality arising in the process of gradual social evolution. But as such, religion is not a purely moral movement, although the ethical and moral impulse of human society exerts an enormous influence on the external and social manifestation of religion. Religion always enlivens evolving human nature, but it is not the secret of that evolution.

 

   Culmination of religious life.

   Portrait of the person of Jesus. Jesus was an unusually cheerful man, but he was not blind or recklessly optimistic. His constant admonition was, "Do not lose heart!" He was able to maintain his confident attitude because of his steadfast trust in God and firm confidence in man. He was always touchingly compassionate towards all people because he loved and believed in them. At the same time, he was unfailingly true to his convictions and majestically steadfast in his attachment to the fulfillment of the Father's will.

   Human destiny

   Evolutionary rise. The evolutionary planets are the spheres of man's emergence, the worlds of origin for the ascension of mortals. Your starting point is Urantia - where you and your divine Consciousness Adjuster join in a temporary union.

   Serving the angels. This afternoon's roll call of planetary angels - nurturers and others - included 501,234,619 seraphim couples. Under my leadership are two hundred seraphic hosts - 597,196,800 pairs of seraphim or 1,194,393,600 angels. But 1,002,469,238 individuals were registered, from which it follows that 191,924,362 angels were absent from this world, performing tasks related to transportation, message delivery, and death.

   Nature, Mission and Composition of the Destiny Reserve Corps. The Destiny Reserve Corps consists of planet-dwelling men and women admitted to special service within the superhuman management of planetary affairs. Included in this corps are men and women of each generation, chosen by the spiritual leaders of the given sphere to help bring mercy and wisdom to the children of time on the evolutionary worlds.

   Nature and Mission of Consciousness Adjusters. Adjusters are the reality of the Father's love embodied in the souls of men; they are the true pledge locked in mortal reason for man's eternal path; they represent the essence of the perfected personality of a finishing man, foretold in time by the gradual assimilation of the divine method by which, ascending step by step from one universe to another, man submits his life to the will of the Father until he actually attains the divine presence of his Heavenly Father.

 

    A triumph of faith. Man freed from religion learns that the divine host of the infinite universe is on his side. When you experience such a transformation in faith, you cease to be a docile particle of the mathematical cosmos and become a free-willed son of the Universal Father. Such a liberated son is no longer alone in his battle with the intolerable fate of the cessation of temporal existence; he no longer struggles with all nature without any hope of success; he is no longer thrown off balance by the paralyzing fear that he may have placed his trust in a hopeless phantom, or pinned his hopes on a whimsical delusion.

   On the contrary, now the sons of God jointly enter into battle in the name of the celebration of realities over the shadows of the incompleteness of being. At last all creatures understand the fact that in the heavenly struggle for eternal life and divine status, God and the entire divine host of the virtually infinite universe are on their side. Such unfaithful sons have undoubtedly entered the time-spanning struggle on the side of the higher powers and divine personalities of eternity; even the flying stars in their orbits are now fighting for them; at last they see the universe from within, from God's point of view - and the uncertainty of material isolation is transformed into the certainty of eternal spiritual development. Even time itself becomes only a shadow of eternity cast by the Paradise Realities on the moving robe of space.

 

    Indeed you mortals are of earthly animal origin, you are indeed created of dust. But if you earnestly ask, if you truly desire, then the heritage of the ages will surely become yours, and the time will come when you will serve in the universes in your true status - children of the Supreme God of experience, divine sons of the Heavenly Father of all persons.
